Baritone William Sharp will be the baritone soloist in "A Christmas Messe: A Banquet of Seasonal English Music," a concert of English holiday pieces, from Medival times to Renaissance era composers, to Yuletide classics. The concerts will be held between December 14th and 23rd at the Folger Shakespeare Library.

Mezzo Soprano Krisztina Szabó will be soloist in a concert of Steffani's Stabat Mater, as well as selected arias, entited "Steffani: Drama and Devotion" with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. Along with the Tafelmusik chamber choir, Ms. Szabó will perform from November 8th to 11th at Jeanne Lamon Hall.

Baritone William Sharp will be soloist at the Washington National Cathedral in a recital titled "I Sing the Body Electoral: Celebrating Walt Whitman" on Monday, November 5th. Mr. Sharp is joined by pianist Wan-Chi Su in a program of Kurt Weill’s “Four Whitman Songs” and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Three Poems by Walt Whitman.”

Tenor Matthew DiBattista will be one of the soloists in Britten's War Requiem, to be performed with the Wichita Symphony on November 10th and 11th. In advance of these dates, Mr. DiBattista will be featured on Channel 10 KAKE TV for an interview and preview of Briitten's work on Wednesday, November 7th.

Baritone Željko Lučić will return to the role of the police chief Scarpia in the Metropolitan Opera's Tosca, replacing Wolfgang Koch, who has left the production due to illness. Mr. Lučić will sing the role on October 25th. He is also currently performing the role of Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West at the Metropolitan Opera.

Michigan Opera Theatre's Principal Conductor Stephen Lord will open the company's 2018-19 season with Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the Detroit Opera House. Says Mr. Lord of the opera, "'It is a story of squandered romance and tragic honor, of regret and longing for the road not taken...[w]ith Tchaikovsky’s rich orchestration, it is the epitome of Russian Lyric Opera.'” Eugene Onegin will run from October 13-21st.

Baritone Matthew Worth will sing the role of Figaro in Boston Lyric Opera's upcoming The Barber of Seville in a new production directed by Rosetta Cucchi. The production will run for five performances at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theater from Oct. 12 to 21, 2018.

Soprano Kara Shay Thomson will perform in a recital entitled "The Diamond Anniversary Recital" to mark the 60th anniversary of Sarasota Opera on April 5th, 2019. Ms. Thomson will share the stage with tenor Jonathan Burton, baritone Marco Nisticò, and bass Young Bok Kim.

Baritone William Sharp will join with soprano Lisa Vroman and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert entitled "'Change the World, It Needs It!' A Weill, Blitzstein, Brecht Cabaret." This event is part of the 2018-19 Kurt Weill festival.

Baritone Željko Lučić will return to the Metropolitan Opera this season, singing Jack Rance in Puccini's La Fanciulla del West beginning October 4th. This will be Mr. Lučić's 15th role with the opera house, since his debut in 2006 as Barnaba in Ponchielli's La Gioconda.

Conductor Stephen Lord will join forces with Soprano Renée Fleming and the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra to present a gala concert for the beginning of the 2018-19 season. The evening will include a special appearance by Victoria Jaiani and Dylan Gutierrez of Chicago’s renowned Joffrey Ballet performing a pas de deux from Swan Lake.

Baritone William Sharp will perform J.S. Bach's Cantatas 87, 154, and selected arias in a concert with the Dryden Ensemble on October 20th and 21st. Alongside mezzo-soprano Kristen Dubenion-Smith and tenor Jason McStoots, Mr. Sharp will perform these lesser-known masterpieces with the Dryden Ensemble, made up of 9 members, all performing on period instruments.

Soprano Jamilyn Manning-White will perform at the Heartbeat Opera's annual Halloween gala, in three performances on October 26th (8pm) and 27th (7pm and 10pm). The concert will also feature bass-baritone John Taylor Ward, soprano Nicolette Mavroleon, and contralto Sara Couden. Heartbeat Opera’s resident chamber ensemble, Cantata Profana, will provide the orchestration under the music direction of Jacob Ashworth and Daniel Schlosberg.

Cellist Colin Carr returns to the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra for a concert of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 107, and works by Vaughan Williams and Leoš Janáček on September 12th. Says Mr. Carr, "It’s nice to build a relationship with any orchestra, but this one really holds a special place in my affection. It’s also so nice to develop personal friendships with some of the members of the orchestra with whom I stay in touch".

Mezzo-Soprano Marietta Simpson is preparing for the world premiere of Lembit Beecher's Sky on Swings, which opens Opera Philadelphia's O18 festival. The opera was chosen as one of the New York Times fall picks in the Classical Fall Preview, alongside companies like Odyssey Opera, whose "La Reine de Saba" features Kara Shay Thomson and Matthew DiBattista.

Violist and composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama joined with the Dover Quartet to perform her composition "Primal Message," for viola quintet, string quintet and second viola, during this year's Chamber Music Northwest festival. The composer was interviewed about her creative process, both as a composer and interpreter.

Bass-Baritone Nathan Stark is performing the role of the Pasha Selim in Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, to open Opera San Jose's 2018-19 season. The production runs from September 15-30th, at the California Theatre, and is conducted by George Manahan.

Soprano Kara Shay Thomson and Baritone Matthew Worth have been highlighted in the Boston Globe's "Classical Music Picks" for the fall of 2018. Ms. Thomson will sing the title role in the US premiere of Gounod's La reine de Saba with Odyssey Opera, and Mr. Worth will sing Figaro in The Barber of Seville with Boston Lyric Opera.

Director Jose Maria Condemi will begin his 2018-19 with Mascagni/Leoncavallo's double-bill opera Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci with the San Francisco Opera. Says Mr. Condemi, "There’s something so powerful about these operas, they just go straight to the heart.” The production opens on September 7th.

Pianist Cecile Licad will be touring the Phillipines in 2018, starting November 29th and performing in Iloilo City, Roxas City, Davao and Legazpi City. Ms. Licad will be offering an all-Chopin program, and will begin her tour in Iloilo City, performing at an historical heritage site.

Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein will perform Shulamit Ran's For an Actor: Monologue for Clarinet (in A) at the Banff Centre International String Quartet Festival on September 1st. Says Ran of Fiterstein: "“He’s a beautiful player. He’s very smooth, wonderfully accomplished playing, very musical."

Soprano Audrey Luna will sing the soprano solo in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in concert with the Cleveland Orchestra on Saturday, August 25th. Ms. Luna is joined by soloists Matthew Plenk and Elliot Madore, and led by Adrien Perruchon and the Blossom Festival Chorus.

Soprano Kara Shay Thomson will make her role debut in the title role of Gounod's rarely-performed opera La Reine de Saba (The Queen of Sheba) with Odyssey Opera in September. The premiere of the opera will open Odyssey Opera's 2018-19 season, and will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Gounod's birth.

Baritone Ben Edquist is at the Grand Teton Music Festival this month, performing as Bernardo in West Side Story and in a "Broadway Review," singing musical theater favorites alongside other performers. Mr. Edquist will perform "Some Enchanted Evening” from “South Pacific” (1949), among others.

Soprano Jamilynn Manning-White will sing the notorious Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute with the Lake Area Music Festival in Brainerd, MN on August 18th and 19th. The performances will open the festival, now in its 10th season.

Contralto Malin Fritz and tenor David Blalock perform the roles of Geneviève and Pelléas in Debussy's only opera Pelléas and Mélisande with West Edge Opera, opening August 4th. The story is a tale of two lovers moving through the elusive world of the symbolist playwright Maurice Maeterlinck.

Tenor John Bellemer will be featured in the opening night concert of the Salt Bay Chamberfest on August 7th. Along with cellist Wilhemina Smith, Mr. Bellemer will perform works by Ventadorn, Dowland, Britten, Piazzolla, Golijov, Schubert and Labro - composers whose music spans 9 centuries.

Mezzo-Soprano Phyllis Pancella will be featured in composer Ingrid Stölzel's first solo commerical recording, entitled "The Gorgeous Nothings," released July 13 on Navona Records. Ms. Pancella is joined by oboist Margaret Marco and pianist Ellen Sommer. The album's title is based on a 2013 collection of Emily Dickinson’s previously unpublished writings.
