Mezzo-soprano Vivien Shotwell debuts with Los Angeles Opera as the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Die Zauberflöte opens on November 16, with additional performances on November 21 and 23(m) and December 1(m), 12, and 15(m).

Michigan Opera Theatre's production of Sweeney Todd will feature baritone Stephen Powell in the title role, and tenor Scott Ramsay as Beadle Bamford. Sweeney Todd opens on November 16 at the Detroit Opera House, with further performances on the 20, 22, and 24(m).

Pianist Cecile Licad will join cellist Alban Gerhardt for a recital of Beethoven, Debussy, and Franck with Shriver Hall Concert Series. The performance will be held at Baltimore's Shriver Hall on November 10 at 5:30PM.

Baritone Ben Edquist sings the role of William on the premiere recording of Glass' The Fall of the House of Usher, newly released on the Orange Mountain Music label. Mr. Edquist previously sang William in Wolf Trap Opera's 2017 production of the opera.

Baritone Matthew Worth and stage director Jose Maria Condemi will return to Central City Opera for its 2020 Summer Festival season. Mr. Worth will sing Billy Bigelow in Carousel from July 4-August 2, and Mr. Condemi will direct Rigoletto, which opens July 11 and runs through July 31.

Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein and the Tesla String Quartet will release their new album Joy & Desolation (Orchid Classics) on October 18th, 2019. The album features performances of Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A Major, Finzi's Five Bagatelles arranged for clarinet and string quartet, Corigliano's Soliloquy, and Heredia's Ius in Bello.

Pianist Cecile Licad appears with Danbury Concert Association on October 20 at 3PM, performing a recital of Beethoven, Chopin, and Gottschalk at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall at Western Connecticut State University.

On October 18 and 19, soprano Abigail Fischer will reprise Mrs. X.E. in Du Yun's Pultizer Prize-winning Angel's Bone at the Beijing Music Festival. Ms. Fischer originally created the role of Mrs. X.E. in the opera's world premiere at the Prototype Festival, and can be heard on the National Sawdust Tracks recording.

Mezzo-soprano Catherine Cook returns to San Francisco Opera as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro. The production opens on October 11, with further performances on October 13(m), 16, 19, 22, 25, and 27(m), and November 1, at the War Memorial Opera House.

Jose Maria Condemi returns to Atlanta Opera to direct his production of Robert Xavier Rodríguez's Frida, based on the life of the celebrated artist. Frida will be performed at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on October 5, 9, 11, and 13(m).

Soprano Antonina Chehovska will sing Tatiana in Livermore Valley Opera's 2019-20 season-opening production of Eugene Onegin. The opera will run for four performances on September 28 and 29(m), and October 5 and 6(m), at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, California.

Tenor Matthew DiBattista will sing the Earl of Surrey in Saint-Saëns' Henry VIII with Odyssey Opera. Part of the company's Tudor-themed 2019-20 season, this production of the rarely-heard opera will play on September 21 at the New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall.

Soprano Abigail Fischer, in a return to Da Camera Houston, sings Julia Child in Lee-Hoiby's one-woman opera Bon Appetit! on September 21 at the Cullen Theater. Performing the opera in a chamber arrangement for voice, piano, and wind quintet, Ms. Fischer will sing with the Grammy-nominated Imani Winds.

Bass-baritone Zachary Altman will return to Opera Philadelphia this season as Leandro in the company's first-ever production of Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges. The opera will play on September 20, 22(m), 27, and 29(m) at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.

Baritone Ben Edquist will sing Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia in his debut with Painted Sky Opera on September 20, 22(m), and 27. Performances will run at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City.

Mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó has been highlighted in the Chicago Tribune's "Fall preview: 11 of the season’s most promising classical concerts" for the fall of 2019. Ms. Szabó sings as mezzo-soprano soloist with in Bach's Mass in B Minor with Music of the Baroque on September 14 and 15(m).

These productions include Frida with Atlanta Opera, directed by Jose Maria Condemi; The Love for Three Oranges with Opera Philadelphia, featuring Zachary Altman as Leandro; and Ali Baba with Opera Southwest, featuring Christopher Bozeka as Nadir.

Soprano Heather Buck will open Opera in Williamsburg's 2019-20 season as Leïla in Les pêcheurs de perles. The opera will be performed at the Kimball Theatre in Williamsburg, Virginia, on September 4, 6, and 8(m).

Mezzo-soprano Marietta Simpson will reprise Martha in Lembit Beecher's Sky on Swings with Opera Saratoga in its 2020 summer season. Ms. Simpson created the role of Martha in the opera's world premiere with Opera Philadelphia in 2018. Performances will run on June 20 at 7:30PM, June 27 at 2PM, and July 2 at 7:30PM at the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Feinstein returns to the Bard SummerScape Festival as the Messenger in the U.S. premiere of Korngold's Das Wunder der Heliane (The Miracle of Heliane) at Bard College's Fisher Center. Performances will run on July 26, 2019 at 7:30PM, July 28 and 31 at 2PM, August 2 at 4PM, and August 4 at 2PM.

Soprano Maeve Höglund has been announced in Oratorio Society of New York's 2019-20 season closing concert. Ms. Höglund will sing as soloist in the world premiere of Paul Moravec's A Nation of Others, an oratorio about Ellis Island, at Carnegie Hall on May 6, 2020, at 8:00PM.

Pianist Cecile Licad will record the complete Gershwin works for piano and orchestra with a Danish orchestra, under the baton of Gerard Salonga. This new recording is the next part of her acclaimed, on-going American music project on Danacord, Anthology of American Piano Music.

Opera Parallèle has announced its 2019-20 season, featuring mezzo-soprano Catherine Cook and baritone Matthew Worth. Mr. Worth sings the title role and Ms. Cook sings as Mama in Stewart Wallace's Harvey Milk. Ms. Cook will also reprise the role of Julia Child in Lee Hoiby's Bon Appétit!, and will sing in the company's benefit gala.

Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Feinstein has been nominated for the Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis award for Best Female Singer in a Lead Role (Beste Weibliche Hauptrolle) in Austria for 2018, for her performance as Laura in La Gioconda with Tiroler Landestheater. The prestigious Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis awards are given annually for outstanding achievements in opera and musical theatre in Austria in the past year.

NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester's final performance of Ligeti's Le grand macabre, featuring soprano Audrey Luna as Gepopo, and with Alan Gilbert conducting, will be livestreamed for free on May 13th, 2019, at 8:00PM CEST (2:00PM EDT). The performance can be viewed on the Elbphilharmonie's website and YouTube channel, and on NDR.de local television.
