CBC Radio 2's Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, with host Bill Richardson, will feature the Met's new Richard Eyre production of Bizet's Carmen, with Ms. Eddy in the role of Mercédès.

Bizet's opera Carmen is one of opera's greatest hits (although at its 1875 premiere, many in the audience were shocked and appalled). The reviews for the Met's new Richard Eyre production have been terrific, with the Latvian soprano Elina Garanca as the tempestuous temptress of the title, and French tenor Roberto Alagna as Don José, the simple soldier who falls for her. And the hot young conductor at the helm is the Montreal-native Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Following the Met's broadcast, Saturday Afternoon at the Opera host Bill Richardson has a chance to speak to Yannick Nezet Seguin about this latest triumph.
