San Francisco Opera to Present Simulcast of Opening-Night Rigoletto
San Francisco Opera has announced plans to present a live, open-air simulcast of its production of Rigoletto at the Beaux Arts Civic Center Plaza on Friday, October 6 at 8 P.M., as the opera concurrently plays in the War Memorial Opera House.

The presentation follows the Opera's summer season opening-night simulcast of Madama Butterfly, which was presented by general director David Gockley and drew some 8,000 spectators.

The October 6 performance is to feature Italian baritone Paolo Gavanelli as Rigoletto, and soprano Mary Dunleavy as Gilda. Stephen Lord will conduct the opera in his San Francisco Opera debut.

The company's Renaissance-styled production was created by Michael Yeargen, and will be directed by Harry Silverstein.
