Mary Lynn Fixler, 1931-2016

Mary Lynn Fixler, a manager at Barrett Artists from 1987 until her recent retirement in 2016, died on December 17. She was a beloved and stalwart member of our music community, and is missed deeply.

Mary Lynn Fixler, 85, died December 17, 2016 in Connecticut. Ms. Fixler lived most of her life in New Brunswick, NJ and was born there October, 7, 1931 to Herbert and Claire Sprague Fixler. She graduated from Immaculata College in Washington, DC before serving in the US Air Force. Ms. Fixler worked in classical music management for her entire career, first for Columbia Artists Management, Inc. with Arthur Judson and Ruth O’Neill, and then with William Judd. When Mr. Judd left CAMI and formed his own management in 1969, she became his main sales representative until he died. Mary Lynn Fixler joined Herbert Barrett Management in 1987, retiring in June of 2016. Among the many fine artists she worked with directly were Rudolf Serkin, Earl Wild, Andre Watts, the Guarneri String Quartet, John Aler, Yvgeny Sudbin, Vadim Gluzman, Alessio Bax and Marietta Simpson. Ms. Fixler is survived by her two siblings Nancy Fixler Houseworth and Herbert B. Fixler, six nieces and nephews, and nine grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial gathering for family and close friends will be held this summer at Beach Haven, NJ.
