Cellist Colin Carr will be a featured artists at the Off the Hook Arts Festival, taking place in Colorado between June 24th and July 20th. This is the festival's seventh year, and will "take a deep and thoughtful look at climate change and its impact on the planet over the next month by bringing together music, visual arts and science in the form of concerts, lectures, films, art exhibitions and STEAM-based educational events for all ages."

Soprano Maeve Höglund will sing the role of Susanna in Opera Maine's summer opera Le Nozze di Figaro. The production will open on July 25 with an additional showcase on July 27. "Figaro” will be the opera featured as part of Macy’s new “Opera For All!” initiative.

Bass-Baritone Eduardo Chama has been announced in the upcoming 2018-19 Portland Opera season.  Mr. Chama will sing the role of Dr. Bartolo in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, which opens in June 2019.

Baritone Željko Lučić will be featured on the PBS Great Performances Series, as Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca, alongside Sonya Yoncheva and Vittorio Grigolo, filmed at the Metropolitan Opera earlier this year. The broadcast will be shown on June 15th at 9pm EDT.

The inaugural Rockport Chamber Music Festival will occur this summer from June 15th to July 15th in Rockport, Massachusetts, and will feature many world-class artists, including cellist Colin Carr. Mr. Carr will perform in several concerts, playing the complete Bach cello suites, and works by Debussy, Schumann and Popper.

Counter tenor Matthew Deming will perform in the "Wall to Wall Leonard Bernstein" celebration on Saturday, May 19th at Symphony Space. Mr. Deming will perform in Chichester Psalms, arranged for choir, piano, harp, and percussion.

Mezzo-Soprano Krisztina Szabó has just begun performances of George Benjamin's widely anticipated world premiere of Lessons on Love and Violence at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and it has been announced that the classical music streaming website, Medici.tv will present the production live for online viewers. The livestream will occur on May 26th at 2pm EST for subscribers.

The Bethlehem Bach Festival is celebrating its 111th year this summer, with baritone William Sharp as soloist. It is a return to the festival for Mr. Sharp, and he will be featured in several concerts, including Bach's Mass in B Minor, and Cantatas #21, 106 and 156.

Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein will be one of the featured performers in several concerts for the inaugural Classical Bridges Music Festival, taking place this summer in New York City. In addition to appearing in two concerts, Mr. Fiterstein will also participate by teaching a variety of studio lessons, masterclasses, and will speak on several panels. The festival will occur from August 4-11th.

Soprano Chelsea Shephard is one of the featured soloists in Dame Ethel Smyth's last major work The Prison, to be performed at Carnegie Hall on May 11th. The Prison adapts "a metaphysical text by [Smyth's] friend Harry Brewster, in which a condemned man communes with his own soul," and features a baritone prisoner (Tobias Greenhalgh) and a soprano interlocuter (Shephard).

Soprano Alexandra Schoeny will sing Cunegonde in a co-production of Candide with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Alliance Theatre. The operetta by Leonard Bernstein will be performed at Symphony Hall, Atlanta GA from May 9-20th, and will also feature the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and ASO chorus.

Violist Nokuthula Ngwenyama is featured in the culminating performance for the Brattleboro Music Center's 2017-18 chamber music series. The two performances of "Two Glorious Sextets of Brahms" will also feature violinist Jaime Laredo, cellist Sharon Robinson, violinist Pamela Frank, violist Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, and cellist Keith Robinson.

Soprano Alexandra LoBianco will perform the title role of Puccini's Tosca in North Carolina Opera's 2018-19 season. Scott Quinn is Cavaradossi, Malcolm MacKenzie sings the villainous role of Scarpia while Joseph Rescigno conducts.

Baritone Željko Lučić will sing the role of Seid in Verdi's Il Corsaro in Oper Frankfurt's 2018-19 season. The concert performances will be the house's debut of Verdi's opera, and will also feature Mario Chang, Roberta Mantegna, Dorothea Röschmann, and Brandon Cedel, with Francesco Lanzillotta conducting.

David Hertzberg's opera The Wake World premiered in September 2017 as part of Opera Philadelphia's O17 festival, and has now been honored with the MCANA award for Best New Opera, presented by the Music Critics Association of North America. Soprano Maeve Höglund starred as Lola in the production, and her performance garnered widespread praise.

Audrey Luna has been announced as part of the Vienna State Opera's 2018-19 season. Ms. Luna will sing the role of Hermione in a new production of Manfred Trojhan's Orest, first perfomed in Amsterdam in 2011. The production will run from March 31-April 13, 2019.

Mezzo soprano Stacey Rishoi is one of the soloists to perform Verdi's Requiem with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, alongside her husband, bass Gustav Andreassen. The work will be performed on Saturday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Springfield Symphony Hall.

Violist and composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama will return to the Santa Rosa Symphony as a soloist in their upcoming 2018-19 season. Ms. Ngwenyama will be featured in the "Viva Italia" program, conducted by Jayce Ogren, and will perform in Berlioz’ “Harold in Italy.”

Bass-baritone Zachary Altman and tenor David Blalock have been announced in Virginia Opera's 2018-19 season. Mr. Altman will sing Leporello in Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Mr. Blalock will sing Sam in Kurt Weill's Street Scene

Mezzo-Soprano Vivien Shotwell will perform Edward Elgar's The Music Makers alongside the Georgetown Chorale as part of their exploration of lesser-known choral pieces by English composers. The performance will take place on Saturday, April 28, at 4pm - Church of the Epiphany, Washington DC.

Mezzo soprano Catherine Cook will be one of four singers, alongside Frederica von Stade, Laura Krumm and Renée Rapier, to perform in a concert in honor of Earth Day on April 22nd. The event “What a Wonderful World: an Earth Day Celebration,” has been programmed by composer Jake Heggie, in conjunction with the Noe Valley Chamber Music Series.

In addition to performing in Chicago Opera Theater's upcoming Moby Dick, baritone Christopher Magiera will also be featured in the company's first production of Iolanta, singing the role of Robert. The production will run in November 2018.

Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein is one of the featured artists that will perform at the 2nd annual Banff Centre International String Quartet Festival, occurring from August 31-September 2nd, 2018. Mr. Fiterstein will perform works by Brahms, Ravel, and Shulamit Ran.

Baritone William Sharp was one of the featured artists in the documentary Samuel Barber: Absolute Beauty, released recently on DVD through Zen Violence Films.  The film, released in 2017, explored the relationship of the composer to his melancholy music, with many industry experts weighing in on Barber's legacy.

Baritone Stephen Powell will return to the title role of Verdi's Rigoletto at Portland Opera. 

The production will begin on May 4, 2018, with subsequent performances on the 6th, 10th and 12th. All of the presentations will be at the Keller Auditorium.

Mezzo soprano Marietta Simpson will be the soloist alongside the St. Paul, Minnesota-based choir VocalEssence to premiere composer John Rutter's new cycle "Feel the Spirit," which compiles his arrangements of spirituals for choir and chamber orchestra. Mr. Rutter will also conduct.

The New York Festival of Song has announced the singers for its 30th Anniversary Celebration, which will occur on April 24th at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center. Among the "star-studded" cast is soprano Antonina Chehovska and baritone William Sharp.

Stephen Lord has again been confirmed as the principal conductor of Michigan Opera Theatre; it will be Mr. Lord's second season in the post. Tenor Matthew DiBattista has also been cast as Triquet in Eugene Onegin, as part of the opera's 2018-19 season.
