New production
Sung in English with projected titles

Dramatic tensions erupting within a wildly diverse group of French citizens, trapped behind enemy lines during the Franco-Prussian War, provide the basis for Stephen Hartke and Philip Littell's adaptation of Maupassant's short story, Boule de Suif. Commissioned by Glimmerglass Opera, this world premiere will be staged by David Schweitzer (The Mines of Sulphur) and conducted by music director Stewart Robertson.

World Premiere commissioned by Glimmerglass Opera with funding from the Hanson Institute for American Music of the Eastman School of Music. This production is made possible by Lois A. and Butler W. Lampson, Argosy Foundation, The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, Opera America and Meet The Composer.
