Rideout Plays Robert McNamara in Dallas Symphony's Stucky Premiere
The Dallas Symphony is premiering Steven Stucky's August 4, 1964 this month. The piece is a 70-minute oratorio commissioned by the symphony to commemorate Lyndon B. Johnson's 100th birthday. Vale Rideout is performing the role of U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara. The work, composed by Steven Stucky to a libretto by Gene Scheer, is based on a single day in Johnson's presidency.
